We didn't get snow that stuck, just the usual freezing rain and sleet. Though apparently cars parked outside did still have a little snow this morning.

There's a new Lord of the Rings fan film: Born of Hope
This hour long original drama is set in the time before the War of the Ring and tells the story of the Dúnedain, the Rangers of the North, before the return of the King. Inspired by only a couple of paragraphs written by Tolkien in the appendices of the Lord of the Rings we follow Arathorn and Gilraen, the parents of Aragorn, from their first meeting through a turbulent time in their people's history. There's also a trailer on the web site.

I love fan films. Especially the Star Trek: New Voyages series (click the tag for the links), which we force our friends to watch.

And speaking of film: The restored Metropolis will stream live on the internet today. There's nearly an hour of new footage.

Update on Metropolis from Roger Ebert. It can't be seen in the US. It's being blocked from streaming over here :(

I desperately hope they put the restored Metropolis out on DVD. I'd snatch that up in a heartbeat.
