I started out the day by falling down the stairs. The stairs are carpeted and I fell backward, so landed on my butt and slid most of the way down. But the two half-full bowls of cat food I was holding went flying and are now all over the stairwell. Not a great start to the week, but it could be worse.

Okay, finally got The Element of Fire up on Barnes and Noble as a NookBook. This is the real authorized edition by me. It's $2.95. When I get a chance, I'll get City of Bones up there too.

Courtney Schafer has a great article on the Night Bazaar on the submission and acquisition process for novels, and what happens after you get an agent: Here Be Dragons.

Kelly and Laura McCullough are on Neil Gaiman's blog: Once You've Got a Lampost... with some fabulous photos by Matt Kuchta.

A very serious link: The Lipstick Chronicles: The Least Among Us This is the story of how writer Melissa Mia Hall died, and why she didn't have to.

Yay! :) I just haven't gotten used to reading on that small a screen yet. I can read books off my laptop screen fine, though, so I think it's just a matter of getting used to a smaller format.

Thanks! The carpet has gotten old and worn, and it's made it slippery for some reason.

As long as you're all right, the cats will survuve the mishap.

They were annoyed, that was about it. :)

That is so...cat-line. XD

I'm glad you didn't get hurt! We had carpeted stairs in the house where I grew up, and I got a good collection of carpet burns on my back and butt from falling and sliding down them ass-first when I was a kid.

The story of that woman's death is so depressing. Is the American Way Of Life really going to collapse into chaos and (God forbid) socialism by saving lives like hers? Somehow I doubt it.

Thanks! Yeah, I think I'm lucky I've always fallen backward on them. It's scary, but I've never gotten hurt. Part of the problem is the carpet is so old and worn it's gotten slippery.

Yeah, it's just so frustrating and infuriating. The same thing is happening every day to so many people, augh.

Will the cats help with clean up or is it beneath theri dignity to eat off the floor?

They don't seem to like this flavor of the food anymore, so mostly they're just ignoring it.

Thanks! Of course, the cats capped things off by deciding they didn't like this flavor anymore and they weren't going to eat it. :)

Thanks! It was more scary than anything else.

Yay. I just bought a copy.

So sorry to hear about your fall. I hope you're all right.
