Yesterday we went to a restaurant in Houston called the Downhouse, named after Charles Darwin's house, and decorated with Darwin-themed art and objects, and the food was fabulous. I had chicken and waffles that were just incredibly good. The waffle had really good flavor would have been excellent by itself, but the fried chicken had a dark, maybe slightly carmelized batter, and with pepper honey on it, and I cannot describe how yummy. After we ate, it was like we wanted to tell the waitress to bring the menu back so that we could now have Second Lunch.
And we stumbled on it completely by accident, having never heard of it before, because we had gone down there to go to a specialty spice store.
