Raksura Release Day

Today (Sept 2) Stories of the Raksura Vol. I: The Falling World & The Tale of Indigo and Cloud is available today in ebook and audiobook, yay!

The trade paperback is scheduled for September 16.

"The Falling World"
Jade, sister queen of the Indigo Cloud Court, has traveled with Chime and Balm to another Raksuran court. When she fails to return, her consort Moon, along with Stone and a party of warriors and hunters, must track them down. Finding them turns out to be the easy part; freeing them from an ancient trap hidden in the depths of the Reaches is much more difficult.

"The Tale of Indigo and Cloud"
This novella explores the history of the Indigo Cloud Court, long before Moon was born. In the distant past, Indigo stole Cloud from Emerald Twilight. But in doing so, the reigning Queen Cerise and Indigo are now poised for a conflict that could spark war throughout all the courts of the Reaches.

* Please, if you liked the book or didn't like it, leave reviews. This is especially important on Amazon where the number of reviews control how often the book shows up in searches and suggestions. Reviews on Barnes and Noble, other retailers, and GoodReads and LibraryThing, or just on your own blog, twitter, FB, tumblr, etc help too.

* You can also look for it at your local library, and if they don't have it, request that they buy it for their collection. (Remember that some libraries have ebook loaning services now too.)

* I felt like I had a long list, but that's pretty much it. I hope you enjoy the novellas!

***

I did go see Guardians of the Galaxy for my birthday yesterday and loved it. The theater was crowded (I went to the smaller 2d version because it was earlier, instead of the 3d version) but I got a good seat.

Happy Release Day, Martha!

Yeeaaayyyyy!! Upside, I'm at home today from work. Downside, I'm home because I'm sorting through stuff so that I have room for multiple pieces of furniture and 10 boxes of books and papers arriving via truck tomorrow. I guess this will be my incentive to finish quicker.

Ouch, that sounds like a lot of work! I hope you were able to finish quickly.

yay! can't wait for the trade paperbacks! i pre-ordered, so it will arrive like magic. :)

Thank you! At this point I think it's going to be the 16th, though Amazon and B&N are saying it will be later.

I preordered it yonks ago, but for some reason it looks like the B&N release date has been pushed back a week or two :C oh well I can be patient.

Yes, the trade paper version got pushed back. I'm not sure why -- it might be a printing problem. The ebook and audiobook versions are out now. And thanks for preordering!

Martha,

As I commented to a previous journal entry of yours, I had originally hoped that Tales of the Raksura would show up at the Baen e-books web site today (as your previous Raksura books did), but it did not.

However, yesterday, Amazon added an extra note to the book's Kindle page: if I purchased the Kindle version for $10.49, I could then purchase the Audible version for $3.47. Getting both versions for a few cents less than 14 bucks seemed pretty reasonable to me, so that's what I did.

That's a pretty good deal! I'm still not sure if it's going to be on Baen, since this is a different publisher with a different distributor.

(First off, thank you for answering my question in the other blog post. It makes much more sense now. :) )

I absolutely loved the new stories. I really hope they earn enough money for us to see more. I'd pay good money for a Frost novel(la). Double for a Moon/Frost novel(la). XD I love their growing relationship.

Thanks again. Moon's world continues to fill me with wonder and joy. :)

I was jumping up and down when I popped your name into amazon some months ago to see what new stuff you had in store! And I've been dying for these new Raksura stories, big fan of allllllll your works, but the Raksura stories have a special spot in my heart! I cannot wait to add to my collection. Thank you, and please never stop sharing your fantastical worlds, creatures and characters!

>Also need to say Star Wars: Razor's Edge was awesome! I loved your portrayal of Leia, you really gave personality and a new depth to her character. I am a big fan of the Star Wars Universe, so Star Wars + Martha Wells = epic!!!

Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the new stories! And I'm glad you liked Razor's Edge, too. I've been a SW fan since the first movie came out, so writing that book was a really cool thing for me.
