Thinking about Barbara Jordan tonight, who was such a powerful female figure in the news when I was growing up, at a time when I really needed to see powerful female figures. I didn't know until I was reading about her again tonight that she was considered as a running mate for Carter, or that Clinton wanted to nominate her for the supreme court but her health was too bad by that point.
