Into the light

(no subject)

I was thinking about last Christmas, and remembering how my husband had been officially laid off (though his boss was letting him work through December), our friend who was spending Christmas with us had been laid off, and my book had been unsuccessfully making the publisher rounds for close to a year and a half. I'd finished writing two more books, but wasn't too enthusiastic about their chances either.

This year, my husband has a new job, our friend has a new job, and The Cloud Roads and The Serpent Sea are sold. So yes, I think I've got a lot to be relieved about this year.

Black Gate has a post about the holiday discounts at, and the books available there. The reprint editions of The Element of Fire and City of Bones are also on sale there and discounted.
