We Come From Earth

(no subject)

Yesterday we drove to Austin to watch my husband's goddaughter dance the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker. It was the 10th Annual Austin Children's Nutcracker by the Austin City Ballet. Her father played Drosselmeyer. It was a lot of fun and the most Christmassy thing we've done in years. I actually hadn't seen the Nutcracker in so long (and I haven't seen live ballet since college) that it was all new to me. Before we left town I ended up buying a sachertorte for Christmas. I can already feel myself gaining weight, even though I haven't had any yet. It is literally adding weight to my body from its box in the refrigerator.

We also met friends for lunch at Threadgill's. The fried green tomatoes there are very, very yummy.

On Friday I decided to dump a big section of plot from the third Cloud Roads book and do something else instead. It's about four chapters that will have to go, but at least I know what I want to do, and it feels a lot better than what was there.

Today I'm going to write a whole bunch. Next week I need to clean ALL the things.
